erroneous z color scale in plot2D method

There appears to be an issue with the colorbar scale in the plot2D method. At least when used to plot bathymetry. This illustrates the problem:

The figure shows the depth as reaching down to only 1000 m, whereas the bathymetry data actually go down all the way to about 3500 m.
