I understand that this package is only for students and researchers new to AI, and respect the author's wishes if it stays that way.

There are many companies (and non-academic programmers) that are just starting AI projects (or training a new team, in my case) and might benefit from your package. Migrating your license to LGPL would add them to your audience, increasing the adoption level of your package.
